Cuando un artista muere, su legado perdura. Este año asistí al memorial de Abigail Gumbiner, una talentosa y prolífica artista y madre de mi querida amiga Tamar Halpern. Conocí a su viudo, el maestro litógrafo y pintor Peter Holmes. Peter me hizo un recorrido por su estudio e inmediatamente mis ojos se sintieron atraídos por una serie de pinturas guardadas en un rincón: personas luchando contra el sistema, artistas marciales, guerreros nativos americanos y feroces samuráis, todos realizados en un estilo Rorschach que los hacía cobrar vida. Así nació la Serie Guerrero, una colaboración entre MK y Peter Holmes. Abigail puso un pincel en la mano de Peter y no puedo evitar pensar que ella nos unió para compartir los resultados con el mundo.

Wore this to the memorial for Abigail and it felt right — the cotton is soft but the silkscreen still has that crisp, slightly raised feel you only get from a real print. Washed it once already and no cracking or fading.

The silkscreen print on this one is sharp and the white cotton is thick enough that you can't see through it. It fits true to size, which I appreciated since I ordered online without trying it on. Slightly boxy cut, but that's the look I was going for.
